BerkiCold

BerkiCold is a versatile foam concentrate suitable for use in portable fire extinguishers, as an additive to firefighting water, and as a premix for sprinkler systems. It is also effective in fighting large-scale fires, such as forest fires and oil fires.

This concentrate meets the NEN 1568 standard and is suitable for fighting fires in four categories: A (solids), B (liquids), D (metals) and F (oils and greases). This makes BerkiCold suitable not only for domestic use, but also for industrial applications such as petrochemicals. It even extinguishes fires from kerosene and ethanol. In addition, BerkiCold is completely PFAS-free, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

BerkiCold’s development story is special and has its origins in an unexpected event. BerkiCold cools the fire source, while traditional foam concentrate is primarily sealing. The origins of our product go back to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. After the disaster, biochemists investigated ways to eliminate radiation, such as from contaminated vegetables. This was done by insulating molecules – a process that can also absorb heat. In the United States, this principle was further developed for fire suppression systems. We have now further optimized the original product, which has been used effectively for many years.

BerkiCold is suitable not only for extinguishing fires in liquid substances, but also for fires in A, D and F fires (solids, metals and oil/fats, respectively). Since 2021, the product has additionally been used in our certified foam extinguisher for lithium fires.
